In 1985, Herbalife Scientific Advisory Board was founded, consisting noted nutritionist and medical experts. The Board provides scientific guidance for the development of products and conducts trainings on products and nutriology for sales people periodically. The Scientific Advisory Board will ensure that Herbalife is always at the forefront of the advancement of health science by unceasingly offering customers with the most up to date products.
As an extension of our commitment to quality and scientific integrity, we've established a Nutrition Advisory Board comprised of leading experts in the fields of nutrition and health who help educate and train our independent Distributors on the principles of nutrition, physical activity and healthy lifestyle.
Mark Hughes Celluar and Molecular Lab
In 2003, the Mark Hughes Cellular & Molecular Nutrition Laboratory was established at the UCLA Center for Human Nutrition through a generous donation from Herbalife. The Lab is not only for nutrition research and products development, but for developing scientific standards in the fields of nutriology and traditional Chinese herbal medicine, in particular. The Lab will, for the first time, apply modern celluar and molecular technologies to analyze the compounds of traditional Chinese herbal medicine and the test results of living cells.
Charity Activity
Herbalife International, Inc. not only contributes to the cause of human health through its products, but is committed to its lasting undertaking by offering donationsto numbers of charitable organizations.The Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF) continues to expand its Casa Herbalife program, designed to bring good nutrition to children around the world.Through the Casa Herbalife program, we work with existing charitable organizations to ensure children are being fed healthy and nutritious meals. Some of the many donation examples are: the Foundation invested in the Nutrisopa project in Brazil's San Paulo through the help of Ayrton Senna association---to give out food for 14,000 children who are sharply poverty-stricken on a daily basis; provided support for India's SOS Children Villages by building up a village that can house 200 children; funded the Archa Chantal project in Czech Republic by improving facilities in children's hospitals; the Herbalife International Family Foundation established the Althasar children's shelter and the
St.Nicholas children's shelter in Germany and Africa respectively; in China,Herbalife sponsored the Chinese government's exchange plan with foreign experts in 2000 and received the 2000 Marco Polo Award presented by concerned Chinese governmental organ; in June 2001, Herbalife offered RMB 1 million in the form of donation to Shanghai Children's Welfare Center through Half the Sky Foundation of the United States, helping China's undertaking of enhancing children's education; in 2003, Herbalife donated children's nutritional products to some kids at primary school in Suzhou.
The tsunami erupted on the Indian Ocean in Christmas in 2004 shocked the whole world by the damage it caused. Herbalife, being always fully committed to charity cause, immediately called for its staffs and sales people around the world to donate for the tsunami victims. The donation had exceeded $ 5 million by the end of February 2005.
