2009 Year Review
Dear Team Herbalife, Congratulations! In the most difficult global economic climate in our lifetime, we did something that seemed unattainable just nine months ago — we delivered volume-point growth in 2009. If not for currency fluctuations, it would be a record net-sales and earnings year too.
Let’s recap last year. We hit the ground running January 1, and never slowed down. We had more meetings, more events and more promotions for our Distributors in 2009 than ever before. We delivered on our commitment to get more vertical with the acquisition of our own manufacturing facility in North America, and increased our investment in testing equipment to increase our control over the quality of our products. We completed the global roll-out of Oracle, and started reaping the benefits; opening five new countries in 2009. We delivered upon our internal cost-reduction plan of $12 million, mostly within the supply chain area, and beat the budget for both operating income and earnings per share (EPS). We have a culture focused on both the top and bottom lines.
