Dear Team Herbalife:
For over 28 years, Herbalife has been a green company — from our green Herbalife logo to our ‘sea of green’ — the way we look when Team Herbalife participates in an event with everyone wearing our green gear. Our next opportunity is to be a green company in a new way, doing our part to protect the environment.
Today at the employee Town Hall meeting in Los Angeles, we introduced our Live Green initiative. Our commitment is to make decisions based not only on financial factors, but also on the immediate and long-term social and environmental consequences of our activities. Our efforts will focus on a new set of 3Rs – reduce, reuse and recycle.
Being a truly green company is difficult to achieve. Improvement in this area requires time and commitment and it’s a continuous and evolving process. It can affect every part of our business, from how much energy our offices use to how we package our products. But the only way to get there is to focus on ways we can improve.
We now have multiple generations of Distributors, so when we talk about a legacy for their children and their children’s children, it’s already happening. Now, we have to do what we can to make sure the world remains a hospitable place for the generations to come. And we’re not going to make a lot of external noise about how we’re “going green.” We are doing this because it’s the right thing to do, not for the sake of good publicity.
There are many ways we can help protect our environment. We’ve already introduced some programs in the U.S., such as recycling, paper-use reduction, and carpooling. We also began using cloth bags for our new business kits, instead of cardboard boxes. We are making a substantial investment in our new world corporate headquarters opening in October 2008 in Los Angeles at LA Live to achieve environmental certification. Efforts are beginning worldwide and we will continue to improve.
